On Sunday, February 13, our crew had its first training hike. We hiked a 6 mile section of the Appalachian Trail starting at Raven Rock Road and ending just inside the Pennsylvania line at Pen Mar Road. The first 1/2 mile or so was very steep and it seemed like the elevation increased about 200 or 300 feet. After the trail leveled out, we made our way to High Rock where we stopped for lunch and took in some breathtaking views. We then headed down some switchbacks and paralleled the ridge line to Pen Mar Park where we enjoyed some more great views.
